This period of information technology has brought drastic changes in learning. Learning new things and enhancing your skill. In my opinion, the best single investment that you should make in life is in yourself, and perhaps the most beautiful skill that you can acquire in this day and age is learning how to learn.

I personally am learning a lot of things online. All this content that I provide here is also the content I have learned before online. Most importantly, I am taking online guitar classes to enhance my skill in playing the guitar.

But first, let's identify what I think are the two main challenges of learning something on the internet.

1-There's a lot of BS out there

This means that you will have to sift through the dirt to find the gold.

2-Lack of Discipline

It’s easier to be told what to do and play a passive role in life. The good news is that discipline is a muscle which means there is something you can do about it. And for this, perhaps the most important thing we should keep in mind is an objective. Having a goal is crucial because it will keep you from getting lost. In all you will need:

  1. An objective
  2. A little bit of discipline
  3. A desire to learn
  4. An internet connection (duh!)

So now, let's go over all the stages.

Stage 1 — The Absorption period

You need to cast a wide net and get a better understanding of what you want to learn. Books, podcasts, videos, articles.

Stage 2 — Go straight to the top

Basically, it's essential to distinguish quality info. This is super important because you just can't consume everything out there and the low-quality stuff, which is most of the stuff, is just not worth your time.

Stage 3 — Application

Next, it literally does not matter what you do. You just have to apply what you are absorbing so that it can become part of your long term memory, a legitimate skill.

I hope these suggestions help you in your quest for learning online. If it does, please feel free to share it with others.
